He served as Professor and Director of the Department of Biomathematics and Biostatistics at Beijing Medical University from 1985 to 1991 and since 1991, has been the Professor and Director of the Department of Medical Statistics at Sun Yat-Sen Medical University (now Sun Yat-Sen University).
