During a journey through Mongolia, Singaporean artist Siyuan Aw met Bekku, a young eagle hunter. For ten years, Bekku had shared a deep, silent bond with his eagle—a relationship built on trust, respect, and tradition. One day, under skies marked by sacred omens known only to the elders, Bekku understood it was time to set his companion free. Siyuan Aw was present for their final 24 hours together.

From this experience came Our Wings As One, a picture book unlike any other—painted entirely in oil, a medium rarely used in children’s publishing.

Through subtle, emotionally resonant images, the book explores profound themes such as love, grief, letting go, and the quiet strength of change.

Siyuan Aw is a Singapore-born painter and communication strategist who has lived and worked in Shanghai and London. With a professional background leading creative agencies such as DDB Singapore, BBH Shanghai and Ogilvy London, Siyuan also nurtures a deep love for nature which informs both his meditation and art practice. His paintings have been exhibited in Shanghai and Singapore. Siyuan’s debut picture book, Our Wings As One, is inspired by a transformative journey to Mongolia, where he met Bekku and his eagle.
